Detroit is interested in Sundin. My question is why? I know he adds depth. I know he was once a great player. I know he is older and more injury prone also. So, why would we even bother then?

As a Maple Leafs fan myself, I would say that Sundin is the greatest player ever in the history of the franchise. His stats will certainly back up that statement.

I would also say that he is also fairly durable, especially for his age.  

What would Detroit want with him? They're already the best team without him right? About to win the cup again right?

Well, they will be getting a (still) elite number one or two  centerman. Sundin can also play the wing. If they could pick him up for a cheap enough price, he would be well worth it.

I think it would be a good fit for him on a veteran team such as the wings.

However, I think he'll be back with us for at least one more season. At least I hope so, since we have absolutely no depth at all so we would be screwed without him!

Because he is one of the best players in the league.

Look who he plays with and how he performs. (compare how he plays for sweden to that of the leafs)

He is a great leader and would fit into any system.

the one year he had good teamates he put up over 100 points. but that wont happen on the leafs for a long as time.

First of all Sundins not leaving Toronto! he's staying put! atleast i want him too! but why wouldnt the wings be intrested in Sundin! not only was he a great player but he still is! he may be old but he still has the strength and the skill to carry on! i guess thats the reason they want sundin but i still think he ain't going no where! he's made it pretty clear that he wants to end his career as a maple leaf!

Now if you go to any store for toronto maple leafs you will mostly see this guy named Matt Sundin he brings a lot of cash in for the toronto maple leafs. Once he was a great player so they might be intrested in him so he could bring some popularity
