what would be a good analyasis for this quote i got from communist china 1949, "victims were slaughtered immediatly afterwards and the choice part of their bodies, hearts, liver, and sometimes the p***s were excised often before the victims were dead, and cooked on the spot to be eaten." i know its horrific, but what does it exactly mean?

i would think that what they did, in this context, was a necessary evil.

the wars were quite long and, as you know, it is very difficult to provide and ration when you can't know what the future is.
