My fighter was at the weigh in when he we were told that my fighter was going to fight another fighter that he had fought 3 years ago and the fight was moved from a 6 round fight to a 4 round we did not take the fight what do you think now keep in mind that the guy they wanted us to fight was in training with us for 3 weeks so he was watching us spar for 3 weeks I hope I made this clear I am still a little emotional about because a lot of time was wasted and money

  1. I think you did the right thing. There were too many last minute changes... and the weigh-in is about as last minute as you can get. Yet, the new opponent knew about your fighter and had time to prepare. Making things even worse is the number of rounds being dropped. Even if you and your fighter wanted to go ahead with the bout, four rounds wouldn't be enough to figure out your last minute, changed opponent.

  2. totally agree with your decision, that was real shady on their part

  3. your decision was probably right you made a choice to protect your fighter his opponent had a massive unfair advantage over him you will just have to look for another fight you have to trust in your instincts you know your fighter probably even better than he does himself his judgment could potentially become clouded in the future through ego or pride so you must make his decisions for his best interests good luck :D

  4. You made the right decision because if they did it to you once, then they would know they could do it to you again!!!

I remember about 10 years ago, I was still fighting amateur and I went to see a friend and sparring partner in his 2nd pro fight.  He was 0-1, losing in his pro debut to Kabary Saleem who went on to fight Joe Calzaghe.  The promoter of this fight, which was at the Blue Horizon in Philadelphia, was Greek.  And he was building the show around his brother's pro debut, lining up Greek Belly Dancers and all this hoopla.  Well, at the weighin, my friend Andre comes in looking menacing, almost like a mini Evander Holyfield.  Well, the greek fighter took a look at him and said "No way!  I ain't fighting him!!!"  So they tried to mix and match opponents until Andre's trainer/manager refused to take the fight.  They wanted to put Andre in with a guy who had 10 pro fights.  So, the greek fighters fight was cancelled and as we are leaving, we get on the elevator with the fighter they tried to put Andre in there with.  And this guy starts talking trash.  Now, they are nose to nose in the elevator and I am right in the middle of it.  It was an ugly scene.  But as the manager said "If they tried to do that to me once and got away with it, they will do it to me every time!!!"

Oh yeah, when the news came out in the paper the next day, they slanted it like Andre failed his physical (YEAH RIGHT!!!) and that is why the fight was called off!
