  1. Your answer is technically correct, but that's in miles per second.  If they want the answer in miles per hour, you need to multiply it by 60, making it about 81.8 MPH.

  2. you need to convert the minutes into hours first, then find speed.

    55/60=.91667 hours

    75/.91667=81.818181817 Miles per hour

  3. the 55 minutes=0.916666 (repeating)

    the train travels 75 miles in 0.916666 hrs. (1 hour=60 minutes)

    S=D/T

    Speed=81.8181 MPH

  4. Are you going for miles per minute, or miles per hour? Your book will specify.

    To show a repeating decimal, you put a bar over the numerals that repeat. If a 3 is repeating, then write it like this:

    _

    3

    If 293503 is repeating, then you would write it like this:

    ______

    293503

    So are you confused about how to write a repeating decimal? Or is your book saying it can't be a repeating decimal? Or is your book saying you can't write it in a repeating decimal? If that is the case, then switch to fractions. Fractions don't repeat and are more exact than decimals. So for .36, it would be 36/100. Simplified it is 9/25. So it would be: 1 9/25 mpm (miles per minuteI would think that your book would ask for "miles per hour".

    But I think your book is asking for the answer in "mph" form. To convert just multiply by 60.
