  2. I think it means that it is mans nature to be discontented, or always wanting more.  If a man declares himself "thoroughly satisfied", he must have given up in life,or failed in his humanity.

  3. If you come to the point in your life where you can say, "Well, that's it for me, I'm totally satisfied," you are a failure.

    Life is full of things to be explored, books to be read, trips to be taken, people to meet, stories to hear, inventions to be created.

    If we say, "I'm totally satisfied," we no longer have the need to explore, to try, to seek and discover, which is what life is about.
