Question:

Thoughts on these two orb photos?

Here are two photos from a graveyard near Boise ID. The first shows a bright orb in the tree. The second is a close up of the orb that shows more detail in it. Taken with a digital camera. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

  1. This is important: clean your lens!

The "orb" you have in your image isn't actually an orb, it's a reflective particle (evidenced by the brightness of one side over the other), and the dirty spots on your lens (combined with the high level of dust in the air) seem to indicate that what you're seeing is likely a metallic flake of some kind, and not an orb at all. The angles of the lights and shadows further bolster this.

Also, orbs are considered paranormal, but aren't really ghosts at all. They're basically unintelligent floating masses of energy which don't react at all to any kind of outside stimulus in general--not unlike ghost insects.

  2. An orb is nothing more than the reflection of the flash (or other light source) off an object outside the focal plane.

  3. i'm still loading the pics, but first i have to say graveyards are not usually genuinely haunted, although very old ones may be more than others, its still not a typical "haunt" for the deceased. one reason is that spirits don't have much attachment to their physical form once it has no purpose and once people are buried, they are dead for days sometimes...usually for a place to be haunted the ghost haunting it will have either died in that place or really had a connection to that place.

okay, that does look more like an orb than most pictures i've seen. it could be. it seems to be moving a bit. it also looks though, that it might have been humid or very dusty where you were because the whole picture seems a bit splotchy with very light "orbs" all over. its most likely a water droplet, which is why it looks a bit like it has a trail.

i would suggest, since it seems to be luminescent to give it a shot and send it in to T.A.P.S. or another comparable organization to see what they think. they will usually look over pictures for free and if they think it is something, they may contact you and tell you so.
