Ticket for no front plates?

Question

I just got a parking ticket in the city of chicago for no front plates, but my plates was in my car and I haven't attached them in the front because there are rusted screws broke off in the holes, and the car was like that when I bought it, so there is no way to attach it. My front plates wasn't in my window but on the side of my seat, and I live in the suburbs and they have never ticketed me for that. Could I contest it?

you can contest anything, but you probably won't win. If you're mounting plate is broken, its your job to get it fixed.

To contest it, you will have to prove to the judge that you had a front plate on your car at them. If you explain the situation to him, he might go easier on you (easily if you show up to court with the plate mounted). But you probably aren't going to get off the hook.

You need to get the problem corrected, it will take about 10 minutes.

by law 2 license plates on a car needs to be in all view at all time no matter what.

i know not fair since most and all exotic sports car usually only carry one plate in the back and they dont even bother with putting the front one on due to the ugly look on the front of the car. i seen too many ferarri and lamborghini and porsche only have one plate on. i guess they dont care about a ticket since they make a million a year

you could contest it but the fact remains you know you are suppose to have a front license plate, and you know the bracket is broken. so basically you know you are breaking the law.

NO you broke the law and you can't contest that!  It's YOUR responsibility to do something about getting your plates properly placed, doesn't matter if it was that way when you bought it or not!  It's still up to you to fix the problem!  IF you would have had them in the front window (which is where they should have been) you may not have gotten the ticket!  Do you think you are special and don't have to follow the law or even try and help yourself by having them where they could have been seen?

it will be cheaper to just drill the broken screws out, and put new ones in, going to court is already going to cost  you, even if you do win, but its worth the chance,

When issued two license plates, you are required to display them properly. It is your responsibility to get this taken care of. You would be wasting your time and money (court costs) to contest it.

No you cannot contest it!! Maybe if you had the plates on the front of the car you could, but you didn't so you can't.

I would suggest paying the ticket. But before you do that, get your butt outside and get the rusted screws out of the hole and attach your plates.

You will continue to get tickets until the plates are on.

Its a law, that you apparently knew about, so no, you cannot contest the ticket.

Doubtful, that's the law.  Driving without front plates is asking for a ticket.  They will not justify it because you already had the plates but did not put them on.  However, if you tell the judge the situation nicely, maybe he will give you a break and dismiss the ticket.  It all depends on the judge I think, but contesting it will never work!
