  1. There are tide pools throughout the bay areas near Galveston. Galveston Bay and Christmas bay are both places I use to take my cast net and catch bait in the tide pools during low tide. Mostly mullet and croakers but the occasional trapped flounder,They are usually full of different types of crab. Near the South side of both bays not far off of the beach rd are plenty of spots to choose from and see whats splashing around. Usually lots of gumbo mud around as well so wear some old shoes. 2. Go to Tuna Road--there's a large round structure at the entrance off the main road off the ferry.  It's on the bay side of the peninsula.  Drive to the end.  You'll be looking at the intercoastal waterway but on each side of the road are marshes.  Good places to fish or throw a castnet for bait or crab lines.

You can find hermit crabs there also or just walk along the beach and you'll find them.  They are everywhere.  If you throw out a crab line you'll get hundreds of them too.
