  1. depends on he size, if its a 5gall, about4barbs, if its a 10gallon, atleast 10-13 and well, it keeps goin but rule of thumb is 1inch each gallon

  2. The maximum size of all of your fish combined should not exceed the number of gallons your fish tank holds.

Leave the tiger barb in there an if the problem gets even worse, then take him out for a while, one of the other fishes probably just nipped at it

  3. After keeping Tiger Barbs for a few years I have noticed that the best group size for these aggressive little guys is a minimum of 6. Right now I have a group of 5 in a 38 gallon tank with a red tail shark and the dominant male terrorizes the others. He bites their fins and chases them into hiding.

Until I can get a couple more Tiger Barbs I have the male by himself in a breeder's net. I hate to do it because he's really stressed.

If the two get along okay then leave them be in the tank but get them 4-5 more buddies as soon as you can. You will need a minimum of a 20 gallon tank to keep them properly. If you don't have the space then give them back and get some fish that can live in smaller tanks.

  4. tiger barbs are schooling fish which means that they prefer to be in groups . it is recommended to have them in groups of 5 or more.

as for the fin it can be injured from other fish in your tank nipping at it or it can be a disease called ich or velvet . if it is a disease you will notice white dust over the fish body .i hope that its not a disease keep your eyes on it to find out whats it is and just in case use melafix .its a natural medication that you will find in your local pet store that helps repair the fin and fight diseases without harming your other fish . good luck
