Tiling help!?

i am removing my 50 year linoleum flooring whith a hammer and chisel, but it is a real hassle! does anyone know a faster and easyer way?

  1. Try a floor scraper.  However, have you had the adhesive checked?  If it's that old, it very well may contain asbestos.  Getting rid of that will be a major problem, as it cannot simply be thrown in the garbage.  Hope this helps.

First I would ask if you have had it tested for asbestos backing.  We pulled up our vinyl flooring not too long ago in our bathroom.  It came right up, but the backing remained on the floor.  We tried some chemicals to try and get it to come off easily, but with no windows in the bathroom, it was not safe so we had to do it by hand and scraper.  If you have windows in the room for good ventilation you can go to HDepot and get backing removers.
