Time Travel Research???

Question

Are there any legitimate organizations out there researching in to the topic of time travel??? Who are they, where are they located, and what is their purpose in seeking this new frontier. I'm really fascinated by the possiblity of traveling through time, and would be grateful to get in contact with one of these groups...

Certainly nothing that I'm aware of but up until about 5 years ago I would have bet large sums of money that no one would be doing any research in teleportation.  The whole idea was bad science fiction.  I seriously doubted the intelligence of anyone who would ask such a question. Silly me.   I've learned my lesson.  I still doubt it will ever lead to anything useful, but I won't say that very loudly.  While I may think time travel is impossible, I'm not going to say it.  Well maybe under my breath.

as we haven't found many dinosaur fossils with 30.06 slugs imbedded in them, i'd say time travel isn't too likely.

cause you know the first thing I'd do is go dino hunting.

Time travel is studied as a theoretical problem in General Relativity.  Try Googling "Tipler Time Machine".

The interesting thing about time machines is that they are impossible to build only because of "practical" reasons such as not being able to obtain the right materials.  This may be a form of "cosmic censorship" that prevents the violations in causality implicit in any backwards time travel.

I dont think there is a way to research time travel as such. But there is of coarse research going on in the area of high energy particle physics. The stuff that Einstine got us started on and Steven Hawking is continuing on seems to me to be the ONLY way things like time travel might ever be discovered. If we could bend physics in such a way to drive ships faster than the speed of light or thru other dimensions, maybe one day we will time travel as well.
