How long do you stay in jail for criminal trespassing and damage to property , for a broken window.

  1. Jail is a pre-court facility.  If you get arrested you go to jail and have two choices: Pay the bail (and go to court later) or go to court the next court day.  The most time you could possibly spend in jail is if you got arrested friday afternoon and had to sit in jail over a three day holiday weekend, whn you would go to court the first available court day.  Usually people bail out after 4-8 hours, or spend the night and get out the next afternoon.

    Now sentencing however, would be completely different and would probably consist of a fine/community service and/or probation.


  2. 6mo-1year depending on the value of the property,you might have to pay restitution too,but don't sweat it if your record is clean than you'll get off with probation.

  3. I think you don't need to be imprisoned for breaking the window. What you need is to pay how much you have damaged.
