Question:

Time signature help for audition!!!?

I'm singing this song for an audition tomorrow and the time signature is 4/4 but I want to sing it slower. I've tried finding other versions of the sheet music, because i've heard it SANG slower by different artists, but apparently this is the only one avaliable to me. Can I just go into the audition and ask the piano player to play it differently? and if I do, what should I ask them to play it in?

Help!

Thank you!!!

  1. Just ask them to play it slower.  You might even tap out the tempo you'd like.  Changing the time signature is not necessary or even guaranteed to be helpful.

  2. Not to worry - just have the accompanist take it at the tempo you want. It will still be in 4/4, but slower. You won't find a different version of the sheet music with it slower; they'll all be in 4/4.

As you noticed, the tempo can vary a lot from one artist to another, but it's all the same time signature.

Just do it at the tempo you're comfortable with. Good luck!
