Question:

Timeform Ratings?

I've always thought that end of the year Timeform Ratings are almost always innacurate and seem to discard the dirt horses almost entirely. There are horses that achieve 130+ scores that are really not that better than our horses with ~130 scores. For example, I doubt that by any leap of faith one could truthfully say that Dubai Millennium was as good as Ghostzapper, especially on their respective best days.

Also, the equivalent "Average group I" winner tags most of our horses as nags (and by the typical Beyer Figure rule of thumb, most of theirs too).

  1. i dont see how time form discards dirt horses.... let me give you some examples

1/ curlin..... dirt horse... TF rating of 134 apperently the current highest rating.

2/ big brown.... TF rating of 132 and again another dirt horse

3/ weekend hussler.....TF rating of 130 he's a turf horse in australia who has one 6 group 1 races in since october 2007 (3 of those wins were in open class company.... against older horses).

if anything timeform favors the dirt horses
