Tipping Question.?

I recently went to iHOP and after the meal, we had to pay our bill through a person in the cash register. I don't know how you give a tip for your server in this situation, so I felt really awkward not giving any tips. Should I have left the tip on the table before going to the cash register?

yeh, I usually leave the tip on the table before going to the register...

You can leave a tip at the table.  If you are using a credit/debit card, there is a place at the bottom of the receipt where you can write in the tip amount.
