Has anyone got any tips for me for my english exam which is on tuesday. I'm really stressed out about it. I really want to get a GOOD grade. I'd be really grateful if anyone could let me into how they are revising for this exam, and/or what to revise.

  1. is that unseen written text? practice on bbc bitesize

  2. I'm concerned that you are asking what to revise?  Surely your teacher should have given you past papers or told you what will be covered?  Thats just not on.  Pretty much everything you have studied throughout the year could possibly feature in your exam.  Maybe discuss with your fellow students or even the teacher directly.  Good luck though.

  3. past papers and look at previous mark schemes so you know what they're looking for. Also, if you have your MOCK papers, then compare them to the mark scheme and identify where you went wrong so come tuesday, you know where to be careful.

  4. I don't want to sound old fashioned (i'm 20 and get my walkin stick soon, lol).

But, the best way to revise is revise for the higest exam. For example, revise for the Top Class GCSE papers. That way, you will get a rough idea of what your paper may ask you, you will certainly learn things that your paper will ask you (even though you may not have been tought it) and you will learn things tought to you in Yrs 7 - 11.

Another tip is, add colour to your exam papers (the exam board don't like students knowing this), but if you add pencil crayon colours to your work, you will recieve extra marks.

I hope these help you and break a leg in your exam.

  5. I have my english language paper 1 on tues-is this wjec? Or some other board? It doesn't really matter as the papers do not differ too much. I bought a Collins English GSCE book and it helps soo much alothough it is a little too late. It includes media texts, how to write a letter, articles etc. You should know the basics when you go into the exam i.e. how to write a letter and how to respond to comprehension questions. Make sure you write in paragraphs and structure your answers. You should really make a plan when you write your answer and spell correctly. Right now, I'm looking at past papers from my board and looking at patterns. Looking at the mark scheme really helps because then you know exactly what they are looking for and you can bare that in mind when you are sitting for your exam. Looking at different types of texts e.g. media, stories etc will really help and try to analyse and annotate the questions and text. Do plenty of past questions and mark them to compare your answer to the mark scheme-if your board has one on the net. Hope I helped!

  6. dont do what i did and do the wrong question. good luck.
