  1. 400m is a ***** (i ran it too)

1st 100m - get to sprint speed asap

    2nd 100m - coast

3rd 100m - pick up the pace to almost sprint

    4th 100m - sprint all out till u collapse

    some ways to train:

    reps of 200m

    reps of 400m

    reps of 500m

remember to drink a lot of water on the day of the meet

eat plenty of protein and stay away from junk food

    hope this helps

  2. Forced too. Wow, a coach shouldn't force you to do events you aren't ready for. I'm in high school track and my coach has college coaching exp. and is now coaching high school. I'm sorry that you are forced but here is a strategy which is definetely easier said than done.

Get a good sprint around the first corner.

Keep a good stride on the first straight but try not to slow up.

Speed it up a little once approaching the last corner.

Give it all you got on the last straight.

Good luck. The 400 is a difficult race to run.

  3. You don't really have time to train for the race, since it is in two days.. but I would say get a lot of sleep the night before (before I have a race I get in bed about 30 or 40 minutes earlier).

Don't eat a big breakfast, but definitely eat. Don't eat within an hour of the race though.

As for the running.. If you think that you can't sprint your hardest all the way through, then start off at a slower sprint, pick up speed and go your fastest, and then just hold it out until the end of the race. It's tough though, and if you do give it your all you'll feel like passing out at the end of the race.

Good luck. Sorry if this advice doesn't help you, but it's what I do and it works for me.

  4. As long as it isn't a competition or pressure situation i assume that you can just do your best, Pace yourself and other than that, since you have a short amount of time, just relax

  5. i used to run that in high school, i wasn't the fastest, but i liked to try to stick with the pack then when there was like 200 meters left go all out and try to blow everyone away...
