If my Tivo does 1080i but my tv does 1080p what resolution am i really getting?

  1. The problem is the words "does 1080i".

    If you mean the TV's display is 1080P, then anything displayed will be processed to show 1080 lines of vertical resolution. But the quality of the picture will still be only as good as the resolution of the source, in this case 1080i.

    If you mean the TV will process several resolutions, including 1080P, then we don't know what your TV's screen resolution is. It could be 1080P or 720P or other. In any case, the input will be processed so that it's resolution will match the screen's. So it could be 1080i displayed on a 720P screen or 1080P screen or other.


  2. Hi Asere,

    You will be viewing in 1080p (progressive). Not really much difference. Most say 1080i (interlaced) is better for stills and 1080p is better for action.

    Personally I can't see any difference.
