To claim redundancy ?

if u have past retirement age ie 60- 65, and work for say six weeks and then decide to finish, can u still claim redundancy if u want to finish work ??

You can't get redundancy unless the company you work for want to make you redundant.  You can retire and get your pension tho.

Your employer can only make you redundant and in order for you to claim redundancy you must satisfy certain conditions:

1. You must not be passed the normal age of retirement;

2. You must have worked for at least 2 years prior to redundancy; and

3. You must be in a genuine redundancy situation. That is either that your job no longer exists, your place of work does not exist, or your employer does not exist. You must fall under one of the three types of redundancy situations.

After you have satisfied the above, there are various other issues that must be considered and these can be complicated and you are advised to consult CAB or some other organisation that can assist you in this respect.

To get a redundancy payment tyou need to have been employed with the company for 2 complete years
