  1. You could invite your family, close friends and the priest.  There is no need for thank you gifts.

  2. I invited everyone that I had invited to the baptism which was all of our family like grandparents, aunts, uncles and closest friends! We didnt do a thank you a gift to all guests but with our second daughter we did recieve cards and a gift of money from her baptism sponsors which were her great aunt and uncle!

  3. I recently had my son baptized. The reception depends on what you can afford. We had a catered part at the house, with about 30-35 people. You may invite whomever you want. One of the guests made chocolate lollipops in the shape of a cross as favors, but you do not need favors. On the invitations, give the address of the church and the reception and if they want to come to the church, fine, but don't expect everyone to come to the church. My nephew is being baptized this weekend and they are having 50 people at a restaurant. Everyone is different. We couldn't afford something like that. You could just have a little gathering with the Godparents and grandparents if you'd like. It's totally up to you. We took a lot of pictures and when we sent out the thank you notes, we also included a picture of the baby. You don't need to give anything more than that. The party is enough. Good luck and enjoy the day!

  4. I invited our entire family (from both sides) and friends. We don't give thank you gifts, instead, the guest receive a party favor to remember the baptism date.

GNASHHH: I see what you are saying, however, don't you want to provide a spiritual foundation for your child? If your child decides to change his religion later then by all means he should be allow.... For now, I would definately want my child to be part of my religious community.

  5. Invite your family, best friends, and whoever else you want.

  6. i think the reception is up to you.  i know people who only had immediate family invited to the ceremony and then they had a small dinner afterwards and I know people who threw elaborate parties, complete with 100 guests, dj, centerpieces etc.  I think any party where you invite people, most likely giving gifts, you have a favor for them....which again can be as simple or as complex as you wish.

  7. We had 70people at my sons baptism(I'm Greek). It is your choice though. We had little cross pins for everyone.

  8. i have no idea to your whole question but...

if you're baptizing a baby, i'd just like to advise against it.

obviously its your choice, but if your truly wanting to bring your child up in a christian home, then i just person think you should wait til the child is old enough to decide themselves.

    but its obviously your choice.
