Question:

Toilet slow/getting stuck?

by  |  earlier

While I don't have the greatest water pressure, as of late, the toilet tends to get backed up due to to product I dispose in it. One thing I have is a lot of lime? whatever that stuff is that builds up- It's terribly difficult to remove, I've used all the hard stuff I can find. Could this be a problem?

In anycase- thoughts on the reason I have to flush 4 times to get the stuff gone????

  1. Are you on a municipal water/sewer system or private well and septic?

Has this always been a problem, or something that has developed recently, and if so, how quickly did it become a problem?

Do all the drains run slow?

Are you in a home, apartment, mobile home, what?

The first 'general' thing to look at, as has already been mentioned, is the water level inside the tank.  It should be within 3/4" of the overflow tube.  (Thats usually the pipe the flap is attached to).

The next most common source would be the drain line, under the floor.  The drain needs to run 'downhill' evenly... no sagging or high spots.  If it does, it could easily block up.  The elbow joints may need to be replaced, if they are too 'sharp'.

Finally, with no more information than we have here....IF this is a septic system, then there could be a problem with the septic tank, or drain field.   OR... if a municipal system, then there could be a blockage there.

I'll check back later to see if any more details have been added.

    Good Luck

  2. raise the float on your toilet. sound like not enough water is in the tank

  3. Eat more fiber!  Your stool will become more slimy and grease-coated allowing it to both clean your toilet and flush easily.

  4. Could be a drains problem or could be due to the new clensing tissues that do not disintigtrate like t. paper do not flush these down the drain as this could be causing the problem
