  1. It isn't the "screws" that s***w up your teeth it is the balls on the ends of the barbell.

The important thing to remember is that the barbell your piercer gives you is going to be looooong to accomodate the swelling that happens.  Once the swelling goes down the barbell will be flopping everywhere and a danger to your teeth.  The important thing to do is to replace it with a barbell that is a short as you can manage (your piercer will be able to advise you how to do this) so that it cannot slide out of place and between your teeth to be chomped on while you are eating.

    Good luck!

  2. Do not do it for the following reasons.  1) People who have them look like a druggy, 2) Have you ever seen someone run for Senator or President with a Ring hanging from their tongue?  It is clear that it would be a step down in the intelligence factor., 3) Your tongue would fall out some day.

  3. yeah they make plastic studs.  i'd be surprised if the place doing the piercing doesn't have them

  4. Hi Erik,

I have a tongue ring for seven years now...I have heard some people have chipped their teeth and thank God it has not happened to me.  To answer your question...I haven't seen any rubber ones...but there are plastic kinds.  I have a few of those but I really prefer the metal ones.  Make sure you have extra balls because some tend to wear out over a certain length of time.  I am glad you are doing your homework first before you get it done...very smart.  I learned as I went along.  Again from my experience I never has an issue with my teeth.  I do have a habit of clicking it in my mouth and everyone can hear me from time to time.  That is why I am glad that I have not chipped my teeth or did any other damage.

If you have any other questions...feel free to contact me (by email)

    Good luck ; )

  5. at first it will be long, bor the swelling, but after that,, i suggest a shorter barbell, and try not to play with it too much, because thats what damages your teeth.. other than that after it heals, there are plastic barbells you can get.. good luck..

PS. you wont look like a druggie.. or it wont make your tongue fall off
