I have so many pictures in my laptop that it is a bit impossible to write them all on CDs. I really like photography hehe. So what would be the best option to save them? Or where?

Thanks:)

  1. www.flickr.com or www.photobucket.com

And once you upload them to either of those sites you can delete them from your computer? :)

  2. send them to your e-mail!!

    =]

  3. CD's and DVD's aren't a good way to store images. Buy an external hard drive.

  4. Buy and external hard-drive sea-disk is a good brand.

  5. What you need to do it get ahold of a large flash drive, or better yet, an external hard drive.  I take quite a bit of pictures too, and I have an external with a 300GB capacity.  My pictures from the last 3-4 years take up about 25GB, so it should last awhile.  They can be pricey, but are well worth it.

  6. buy external HDD of (USB) Flash Drives...

  7. I think that an external/portable hard drive would be best. They can hold as much as a computer can, and you can take it with you everywhere you go!

I have a Seagate FreeAgent, and it's really handy. I back up all of my files on both my desktop and laptop in case anything would ever happen to them. And it's easy to organize anything-- You can create folders just like a regular computer. They come in several different sizes, so you can pick the one that fits your needs AND price range.

If you're interested in getting one, you don't have to order it online. You can pick one up in most office supplies/computer stores like Office Max, Staples, etc.

Sometimes you can find them cheaper on NewEgg, too. They have tons of brands and sizes.

  8. Okay, well I had a similar problem. I tried making a zip file, and soon afterwards installed XP and got rid of Vista. 6 months later it's solved!

Did you check out the price of Hard Disks lately? I think the CHEAPEST you can buy is something like a 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM - if your computer isn't too old it should plug straight into a SATA socket and should format to give you 480GB of storage. Next, Move the pictures there - it might take a while, and take care to make a clean job of it (and COPY them before you delete, don't use 'MOVE" if you use Windows).

If you're interested in safe and secure filesystems, then download ubuntu, burn a nice liveCD, and format the new Hard disk as 'ext3' which is a JOURNALING = safe filesystem. I made space on my first hard disk, shrunk C: Windows down to 30GB, then made 'D: STORAGE' as the next 200GB (cos I had 320GB, 295GB Free) and then had enough space left to install Ubuntu (if it works off the CD, then y ou should try it).

If you're interested - to ZIP 2GB of pictures and put the zip file on a flashdrive - then boot up VISTA, unzip to desktop takes around 24 to 25 minutes. Amazing

Boot XP, it took me 17 minutes with XP

Boot Ubuntu, it took less than a minute - perhaps limited because of the speed of the USB I don't know - but I was rather shocked to see how fast the pictures/thumnails were being pasted into the new folder!

SATA is as easy to plug in inside your com as it is to plug into the USB, but with USB it would be rather slow - pictures around 5 to 8GB?

USB is ok, but I'd stick it inside and keep it only for storage. You can unplug it, take it out, and transfer it to another machine if you need to.
