Question:

Toolbar for Word 2007?

Is it possible to make the toolbars in Word 2007 look like the toolbars for previous versions of Word. I've always used, and very familiar with, Office 2000 software. However, the computers at my new school only have the newer versions of Office and I don't like the look/layout.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Office 2007 does not have a "classic menu" option built in, but there are a number of third-party add-ins available that add Office-2003-style menus to Office 2007. Two free ones I know of are http://pschmid.net/office2007/ribboncust... and http://in.geocities.com/shahshaileshs/me... .

  2. Unfortunately not - this is the way Microsoft designed Office 2007 and you simply have to get used to it :(

  3. unfortunately no.  Too bad because you, me and about a million other users would like to stick with the "old" menu system instead of the new "ribbon" system.  Besides moving stuff all over the place, it some cases it now take 3-4 clicks to do what use to just take a 1 or 2.  Definitely more effort required with the new ribbons to accomplish the same tasks as the "old" menus.

maybe someday MS will offer us "power users" the option to use the old interface.  Until then, I'm not upgrading (or should I say downgrading) LOL  :-)
