I have a somewhat mild case of alopecia areata. And I was wondering how long does it take before the bald spots are gotten rid of?

  1. and your question about steroids is- - - - ???

  2. Alopecia areata is tough to treat; often topical (even high potency steroids) don't do the job.  There's no hard and fast rule on how long it'll take to control the underlying problem, and once it's under control, it'll take time to regrow the hair.  It's an autoimmune illness.

This is not a trivial matter and I urge you to speak with your dermatologist about what to expect and what other concerns you should have when given the diagnosis of Alopecia areata or universalis.

    I wish you well.
