  1. No..where did you hear that. There are tornadoes that happen almost anywhere. I live in Ontario and there are Tornadoes that touch down in Southern Ontario, New Brunswick and places like that. Fortunately I live in Sudbury, and haven't seen one yet.

  2. No.

"Tornadoes do occur throughout the world as well; the most tornado-prone region of the world (outside North America), as measured by number of reported tornadoes per unit area, is the Netherlands, followed by the United Kingdom (especially England). Bangladesh, India, Argentina, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Estonia, and portions of Uruguay also have pockets of high tornadic activity. Occasional strong tornadoes occur in Russia, France, Spain, Japan, and portions of Paraguay, Brazil and Portugal (such as the F3/T7 of Castelo Branco on November 6, 1954, which killed 5 and injured 220). Tornadoes have recently hit South Africa and parts of Pakistan in 2001 as well, and on April 4 2006, a rare F2 tornado hit northwestern Israel, causing significant damage and injuries."

    Its just that:

"One likely reason why tornadoes are so common in the central U.S is because this is where Arctic air first collides with warm tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico where the cold front has not been "weakened" yet. As it heads further east, however, it is possible for the front to lose its strength as it travels over more warm air. Therefore, tornadoes are not as common on the East Coast as they are in the Midwest."

In other words, cold, dry, Arctic air collides with the warm, moist, Gulf air. This crates "pockets" of air turbulence and creates thunderstorms. Thunderstorms are ideal birthplaces of tornadoes.

  3. Tornadoes have been observed on every continent except Antarctica.

Most do occur in the United States, but they also commonly occur in southern Canada, south-central and eastern Asia, east-central South America, Southern Africa, northwestern and southeast Europe, Italy, western and southeastern Australia, and New Zealand.

  4. Yes, it is true there are only tornadoes in America. But the reason is because the similar circular high speed winds that occur in the western Pacific ocean and affect the Asian countries are called typhoons.  Just think about the recent Burmese/Myanmar disaster, that was a typhoon.

Meterologically identical but called by different names.

  5. No, tornadoes occur in many other countries, actually the uk has the highest density of tornadoes in a given area than america but most of them are weak f0-f2 strengh. There have been some instances of ones as strong as f5 happening in countries other than the US.

  6. Yes, they are very rare in other countries

it has something to do with the warm air from the Golf of Mexico and the cold air from Canada

  7. No, this is not true, and if you want to know something else, below the equator, tornadoes and hurricanes spin in opposite directions!!! Say for example, that a tornado spins clockwise in North America. It would spin counter clockwise in South America! Cool! Ain't it?

  8. No, tornadoes occur on all six inhabited continents.

Although there are more tornadoes in North America than the rest of the world combined, they still occur elsewhere, though.

Australia and Europe are the places with the next highest numbers of recorded tornadoes.

  9. it may seem true but there have been tornadoes on every continent  not sure about anartica.

they are most commen in america because of the hot and humid air of the middle america countries and the cold dry air coming from up north n canada

they seeem to nappen the most in souther canada and in the states in the central time zone

tornadoes are just americas natural disaster specialty

like eastern asia has earthquakes as a specialty

and the artic circle and antartica are home to killer blizzards
