Tours from Punta Cana?

There are tours of old Santo Domingo and Altos de Chabon(sp) available from Punta Cana. Has anyone taken these tours before? Are the tours worth the money? Thank you in advance.

santo domingo is SUCH a long drive. the drive to higuey is shorter and its just as great. the church/basilisk is AMAZING.

The Santo Domingo tour is a bit far away so a lot of driving, I suggest to do this excursions :

1. Isla Saona (a must!!!)

2. Alto de Chavon ( Casa de Campo - La Romana)

3. Monster Truck Safari

The Santo Domingo tour is alright if that's what you want. It is a long drive from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo though (3-4 hours) I think the jeep safari is much better. The jeep safari is local and shows you the real culture of rural Dominican life, it also shows you the beautiful forests and landscape.
