Tracking my ovulation?

I have been charting my ovulation for 6 months now and on my 4th AI(as of yesterday). I am using ovulation test strips and CM. BBT just didn't work for me. I have my LH surge, but if I count back from the first day of my next period for ovulation, 14 days, it is 3-4 days after the surge.

So I am confused....Am I ovulating 1 day or so after my LH surge, or am I ovulating 4 days later, as my period tells me. Is there any way to tell?

We are using fresh shipped sperm, so it is very important that I am accurate, as this sperm does not live as long and is expensive.

You ovulate 24 hours after the surge. But if you want to be 100% sure you could ask your doctor for monitoring (blood work and ultrasounds).
