is there any train route from california to new york?

Yes, at least I THINK Amtrak is still running.  If it isn't', then the answer is NO.

If you can get to Sacramento, you can take the California Zephyr  to Chicago, then connect with the Lakeshore Limited from Chicago to New York.  Total travel time is about 70 hours, but it's lots cheaper than flying there.  Check this AmTrack web page for routes and schedules...

You can go from SF (Emeryville) or LA to Chicago and then change trains. See http://www.amtrak.com

Depends on where you want to leave and where you want to arrive from.

You can take several routes:

Southwest Chief to Chicago then catch Lake Shore Limited to New York

or

Sunset Limited to New Orleans and then the Crescent to Washington D.C then catch the Acela northbound to New York

or

Sunset Limited to New Orleans and then the City of New Orleans to Chicago and the Lake Shore Limited to New York

or

a car drive to Eugene, OR and catch the Empire Builder to Chicago and then the Lake Shore Limited to New York
