  1. Shouldn't be any "Grease" in the pan, just transmission fluid. Clean it all out. Make sure you install a new filter. Hard shifting may be adjustments if the oil and filter change doesn't fix them.

  2. Clean everything thoroughly.  Be sure to install a new filter.  If the old fluid had a sour odor and/or was not red, you have waited too long and this job will not likely fix the problem you describe.  Don't let that stop you, though.  Careful you get the fluid level correct,  level ground, hot, in park, shift through all the gears, etc.

  3. That is not grease in the pan, it's sludge.  Yes, clean a everything so it is spotless.  Install a new filter & pan gasket.

  4. You clean it out. The main reason for pulling the pan is to clean out all that broken down gunk. That gunk on the magnet is full of powdered metal and will be hard to get off. You can take the magnet out to clean it.
