Transfer flight in Sydney Airport?

Hi everyone, I'm going to travel from Adelaide to Shanghai and I have to transfer flight in Sydney Airport. Unfortunately this is my first time to transfer flights. I only have nearly 1 hour in Sydney airport. Can I make it to catch the plane in such a short time?

Absolutely!  Although the custom's area seems a bit disorganized, they get people through there at amazing speed.  The airport itself isn't that huge either, which also makes connections there pretty easy.  Once you go through customs you may be told to get a "trolley" for your luggage.  When I was there it took me and the group of fellow sailors I was with several minutes to figure out that "trolley" means "cart."  So grab a luggage cart; they're free there unlike most airports where you have to pay $3.

They will let you know the transfer situation as you would have prebooked this.  Just ring and confirm with your travel agent.  But yes, an hour is plenty of time.

You may want to inquire with your Travel Centre pertaining to your thorough flight with minimum Transfer Time allowed if you are flying Domestic from ADL to SYD..

Apparently if you are flying into SYD from ADL with a Domestic flight. You'll arrived at either Sydney Domestic Airport Terminal 2 or 3. Unless you are flying from ADL International Airport then the aircraft will arrived at Sydney International Terminal 1 directly.

All International Flight leave Sydney from Terminal 1. Hence, the transition with retrieving of your luggage from the conveyor belt and security clearance before exiting will takes time. Furthermore, you are still required to make your own passage either by taxi, bus, etc from the Sydney Domestic Terminal 2 & 3 to Sydney Terminal 1. If you would prefer to walk with your luggage in tow, you have to consider of the distance approx 824 meters. Alternatively you may also consider taking a Sydney Bus Route No: 400 from Sydney Domestic Terminal 3 to Sydney International Terminal 1 (traveling time approx 10 Minutes, BUT the frequency interval varies).

Be cautious, now with the strict compliance and thorough security processes by checking hand carry luggage with the liquids, aerosol, etc Passengers are being advise to arrive early for their flight. Hence, its better for you to catch your ADL to SYD Flight at least 3 hours earlier before your connecting flight depart from the Sydney International Terminal 1..
