  1. Volt-amps is how all transformers are rated. When installing one, the secondary load cannot exceed the volt - amp rating of the transformer or it will smoke and burn and cease to work. They always have a tell-tell smell about them when this happens. The three things you need to know when installing a step down transformer is input volts, output volts and how many different things will be on the secondary side and the amp draw of each.(V-A rating)

Usually ,a quality one will have a small circuit breaker on it that will trip if the secondary side is overloaded, and can just be reset, so the transformer will not be fried.

  2. No point in giving you the exact answer you wont understand

Lets just keep it simple and say it a transformer that lowers the power so the small motor dos'nt burn out

  3. the 54 V.A basically means 54 Watts

    ( V.A means Volts x Amperes. Power = Volts x Amperes )
