  1. Hi!  The 3000gt has a TON of transmission problems for all years it was produced.  The people at the shop are NOT lying to you.  It is one of the 100 or so random problems that can crop up when installing / rebuilding a 3000gt transmission.

If you live in the South Florida area, send me a private message and I'll give you the info for the local shop that just did my transmission - they will at least tell you the truth about what the real problem is and try to fix it for you.

Consider yourself lucky that you have those gears.... but you shouldnt even need to shift into 4th until you reach 165mph...  Oh wait, you have an automatic so you cant control when it wants to shift then.

Tons of horror stories out there - many people ONLY have 4th gear!

At the absolute worst, you will have to ask people and find another good transmission shop that will even take a look at your transmission and figure out what the problem is.

  2. Its the transmission. Did you get a warranty? If you go to a reliable place let them test drive and give you their opinion.

  3. too much engine braking? That means the car is not upshifting, for  coasting.

Ther tranny is WRONG. Take it back, or threaten to call better business beauro.

  4. If you had them put in a heavy duty shift kit ,that is what happens.

  5. that guy is dead wrong! you should get 4th even when cold and it should not be a harsh shift, you should be able to coast also. they more than likely have something in the valve body messed up, possibly a bad torque converter
