this is my second question in this matter, as i thought i didnt go in to enough detail. Basically im going to be moving to Australia in about 2 years time and i wanted to know what i have to do, what forms have to fill in if any, who i need to speak to, what i need to apply for and what i need to put my dog through to legally transport him with me to Australia. If anyone knows i would really appreciate if you told me even a basic idea, it would help.

  1. This will practically be a second full time job...............

Delta and Contenental websites have all the info.................

Basics - all shots ned to be up to date , dog must have microchip ( airline rule ) Health cert. from vet and 1 more health check 10 days before flight.

Cage big enough for the dog to be able to turn around in , all paperwork attached to cage. Water and food dish that is attached to inide of cage. Live animal stickers on cage. I wrote all my info ( flight # , cell # ect. ) on the cage in permant marker.Must also write on cage the last time the dog was fed and pottied.

Check and se if he will be shipped as a pet or is he so big he will only be shipped as cargo. My Doberman was so big it was only cargo and his cage would only fit thru the cargo doors of a 757. My problem was not all flights to my destination were cargo flights. So I had to check if it was and book on that one. Also I had to make sure the plane into my destination was a 757. Orbitz lists what plane is used.

Airlines also have weather restrictions on the day of flight. Too hot or too cold and its a no go. Continental has A/C in thier vans so when they are on the tarmac the animal is cool.

Do not board the flight unless you SEE him loaded on the plane !!!!

Find out from the cargo people where he will be taken to at your destination and meet him as quick as you can so he knows "dad" is still with me. He will be a little scarred...............

Keep in mind I have a friend that moved 2 dogs to Australia and she had 6 months quarrantine.................

If you need more just e mail me.
