Transpose to trumpet?

Here's the story: I play with a midi softeware called Cakewalk. I have a song that I want to play along with on my Bb trumpet. I can transpose up a step to match the "C" instrumentaion, but the notes are wrong. The key is right but the notes don't match the pitch from the midi. Can you plz tell me how many steps to transpose the midi? thnx

You have to go up 2 steps. That is the proper tuning.
