Hey guys! I am a rising sophomore in college and really wnat to travel abroad eventually during my college career. Does any one have any advice as to which semester is the least interruptive in your education?

Also any good suggestions for countries. I take spanish so I am definitely considering Spain/Latin America, but I also kind of want to go to Italy or Japan.

  1. Your junior year is the recommended year at most colleges and universities for studying abroad. If your major is Spanish, you will most likely be required to study abroad in a Spanish speaking country anyway.  If your major is different, you may need to look into a country that supports that particular major if you would be unable to graduate on time due to credit recovery.

That said, I would suggest a Spanish speaking country and, from personal experience, would highly advise on studying in Spain. Not only is it a great atmosphere and beautiful place, but you would be putting into practise all that hard work you've done for Spanish. What a payoff! And, as you would be in Europe, you'd be able to travel as much or as little as you'd like. Since Spaniards are known for their "appreciation of life", university classes are generally held only Monday through Thursday, allowing you a long weekend. Every weekend. Plus, with loads of national holidays allowing for partial weeks (or entire weeks) off, you've many opportunities to visit Italy and even Japan.

  2. I would recommend New Zealand, Why? because New Zealand offers a wide range of courses with high academic and research standards that includes different programs, degrees and courses which provides an excellent study abroad opportunities for overseas students. Compared with other countries, New Zealand has its unique features and diversity with its growing culture and has a great privileges for those who wish to live, work and study in New Zealand.
