Travel Insurance for undiagnosed symptoms?

Does anyone know where I could get travel insuranc (travelling to Italy) for pre- existing medical conditions and for undiagnosed symptoms. I am waiting for a hospital appointment to check out if I have Parkinson's Disease but don't think I will get the hospital appointment until after my holiday

Parkinson's is a progressive disease.  Although I'm no doctor I'm going to assume that nothing that could happen to you on a vacation (assuming a couple weeks long) could be attributable to Parkinson's.

You have to potential problems:

1.  It would be considered a pre-existing medical condition because you are exhibiting symptoms which has caused your to seek diagnosis.  This would be considered pre-existing by almost all travel insurance plans offered in the USA.  However, several of the plans offered also offer a "waiver" of the pre-existing conditions if you meet several pre-conditions:

     a.  you buy the insurance within 14 - 21 days (depends on the plan) from the date of your first trip payment; and

     b.  you are physically fit to travel on the day you buy the insurance; and

     c.  you insure your trip for it's full pre-paid cost.

Even if you qualify for the waiver you may still have a problem because;

2.  Foreseeability.  Insurance is predicated on the assumption that the underlying cause of loss is unforeseen when you buy the insurance and that the loss itself must be reasonably outside of your control.  Having symptoms and tests prior to buying the insurance, even if you qualify for the waiver, may be judged by the insurance company as being foreseeable when you bought the insurance and therefore not covered.

Legal Claims

• For bodily injury to third parties or damage to their property, if you happen to be the cause

• Cost of bail bond following false arrest or wrongful detention.

It doesn't exist, as far as I know.  You can either self insure, or put off the trip.
