  1. Suggested travel schedule to see the most popular and worthwhile sites and landscape, depending on your time there:

    3 days:  Florence and Venice

    5 days, add: Rome

    7 days, add: Cinque Terre

10 days, add: Civita Bagnoregio and Siena

More, add: Sorrento, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Paestum, Milan, Lake Como, Varenna, Assisi, Dolomites, Verona, Ravenna, etc.

I didn't just look it up. I've been traveling with this guy's advice for over 20 years. He knows Italy! I've been to all of the above cities and wouldn't quite put them in that order, and neither would the next 99 people you ask. After the big 3 (Venice, Florence, Rome) it's a toss-up, depending on what you like to see and do.

Forget the rental car scenario. It's complicated and expensive and there's no place to park in the cities and towns. Take the train. Fast, quiet, efficient, relatively cheap and you'll be more relaxed when you arrive.

Check these out and post a more specific question later with your likes and dislikes and I'll try to answer.

    Buon Vacanza!

  3. turin

  4. Pesaro(Valentino Rossi)

    Roma

    Firenze

  5. Sicily (it's a cute town), Rome(great for shopping), Florence(didn't go there but a bet it's great there too)
