Traveling to Florence tips?

Hey! I'm traveling to Italy this month with 5 friends (ages 23-27). What are some must see places in Florence? Any recommendations on sights, good restaurants, nightlife, outdoor activities will be welcomed :)

Florence (Firenze) is all that it is hyped at and more Make reservations for the Academy and the Uffizi visit the Duomo and the Baptistry. Go to the Pitti Palace and walk the grounds. Buy lots of gelato and enjoy. Try as many flavours as you can. There is nothing nicer than sitting on the Ponte Vecchio eating an ice cream and watching the world go by.

Side trips: Get to Piazzale Michelangiolo for wonderful views of the City preferably at dusk or dark.

If you have time jump on the number 7 bus and take the trip to Fiesole there are excellent views and peaceful walks in a cooler section of the countryside. Visit the ruins and the monastry.
