Treadmill Running.?

For anyone here who runs on the treadmill, what are some speeds you do and for how long? Right now, I'm running only a mile on the treadmill.

  1. i warm up anywhere between 4-5.5 and run for about 30 minutes at 7 or higher

    the treadmill is harder on my feet than outside running so i dont know why i keep turning to it to get a couple miles in...


  2. Do you have a DVD player in front of the treadmill?  I just discovered a GREAT treadmill workout DVD series (www.runervals.com).  Not only does it mix up the running intervals and keep you motivated, but they have different levels and the instructor is a professional.

    As far as what I do, I usually alternate running and walking.  When I run, I run hard (for me).  My comfortable running pace is a 10 min/mile (6.0 on treadmill) but when I do my treadmill workout I usually run between 7-8 MPH and walk every few minutes for a minute.  With the walk breaks, I am able to run much longer than I would if I were running continuously.

  3. I usually do interval running on the treadmill.  I am constantly playing with different speed combinations.  But I run for 3 minutes at 5.3 to 5.5 mph and then for 30 - 45 seconds at 7.3 mph.  I do it for 45 minutes.  It is somewhere around 4 miles.  Then I will usually walk for at least a half a mile - 7:30 min.
