Question:

Tricking and Martial Arts (again)?

Sorry, I guess when I asked my last question it wasn't really as accurate as it should've been. I listed some bad Martial Arts lol.

I guess what I meant to say was. What martial art would complement my flips, aerials, 540s, etc more?

Capoeira, Wushu, TKD, <Insert something>?

I don't want to be a stuntman or anything, just looking for fun. I already have self defense taught to me by my brother.I'm just looking for some good ideas of stuff that can give me a better start at tricking. I'm pretty new.

  1. My answer from the previous question is still accurate. Capoeira and Performance Wushu are the best MAs to compliment tricking. Gymnastics + Capoeira is the best combination.

  2. What do you mean by 'tricking'?

What in the world is a "540"?

  3. Capoeira would be best in my opinion :)***

  4. Pretty much what you listed above are great to use, capoeira would be great for a break dancing like flow, wushu would really help with your gracefulness and jumping techniques, and taekwondo would really help your kicks and spinning moves.

  5. WUshu. Capoiera, and TKD to a lesser extent would all be good bases, but understand. In no way shape or form tricking a Martial Art. You would winde up seriously hurt if you tried to us eit for self defense.

I would get your parents permission before starting Parkour. It was a pretty cool clip that Tao has there nad very fun to watch, but here is one that shows the other side. I say get your parents permission so they know they are probably going to have some medical bills in the near future.

To me it's not worth winding up acripple the rest of my life or worse just to show off.

  6. Definitely Capoeira and Wushu as far as martial arts.

Another sport you may enjoy is parkour - it's basically doing tricks, flips. leaps, etc. off everyday items. It's called "free-running" too, but don't look at it as running. It's phenomenally difficult and really fun to do/watch. Link to video below.

  7. Have you heard of "Parkour"? It's not a martial art but the tricks are out of this world. If you're seen the opening sequence of the new "Casino Royale" where Bond chases that guy down...that's it.
