  1. cheat when shes not looking or when shes out of the room like steal money or like move to many spaces

  2. There is a lot of good answers here but 2 things I would suggest is:

    1.  Make sure you agree you can trade.  Then get the low end properties and the Trains.  Trains are very under rated and they bring in a lot of cash.

    2. No cash goes on Free parking (It's in the rules)

  3. Buy EVERY THING you land on! and buy lots of hotels and houses!

  4. this is what my mom did to kill us...

...buy the first 2 purple places (the cheapest) then throughout the game upgrade until you get a hotel on each one. its about $1500 for anyone to land there

  5. A common mistake is thinking you're going to win the game with Boardwalk and Park Place.  You're better off getting a monopoly of the light blues or purples, because you can build houses and hotels sooner.  Try and get to this as soon as you can, even if you have to mortgage other properties to buy the houses, it will pay off in the long run if you can build before your opponents.

Also, the oranges and purples are good monopolies to own, since people are always coming out of jail and landing on those.  The most commonly landed on properties are the reds, but the oranges are easier to build houses on.

One cool trick, if you own a lot of houses, is to NOT upgrade to hotels.  If all of the houses in the Monopoly set are out on the board, your opponents cannot buy houses to improve their properties.  If you have enough houses on your properties, you could prevent someone else from buying them.

If you go to jail at the start of the game, when there is a lot of unsold property, it's worth paying the $50 fine to get out.  But later on, when other players have houses or hotels, it's worth staying in jail the whole 3 turns, during that time you're not landing on other people's hotels, but they could be landing on yours.

Those are all the tricks I know - stay alert, pay attention to people landing on your property.  Beyond that, it's the luck of the dice as to what you land on to buy.

Also, if there are any "House rules" about trading property, auctions, money on free parking, etc.  be sure that everyone agrees on the rules BEFORE the game starts.

  6. The ORANGE properties have the best return of investment in the game.

NEVER build Hotels. When you build hotels.. it frees up the houses you removed for other people to buy and place on the gameboard.. thus increasing the propensity you will owe more money in rent when you land on a property you do NOT own in the game.

Once all the properties have been purchased.. stay in jail for as long as possible.. thus avoiding paying money for 2 turns.

  7. The answers upstairs are all good. I would add the following:

    1. Buy every property you land on. You can always mortgage it, so it's "real" price is half what the board shows.

    2. The orange properties have the best return on investment as stated and Boardwalk and Park Place are also especially good because you only have 2 properties to obtain (and build on) rather than 3. But remember ANY monopoly is better than no monopoly. Try to get one before your opponents if you can.

    3. (This next tip means nothing if just the two of you are playing, sorry). Try to look like you are losing if if you are not. Keep pointing out how a certain person is liable to win and get everyone to gang up on them while you quietly clean up.

    4. Once all or most properties have been bought, if you land in jail don't be in a hurry to get out. Remember you won't have to pay rent to anybody.

    5. Strive to get THREE houses on each monopoly. Just look at the title deeds to see how much the rent jumps from 2 to 3.

good luck and let us know what happens.
