Well, the Rare Bear, a modified Grumman F8F Bearcat, set the world speed record for single-engined piston aircraft at 528mph.

I think that's the fastest standard gear. Though, there's probably some strange experimental category aircraft no one has ever heard of that goes faster I'm guessing.
