Tropical Storm Gustav?

Question

Do you think Gustav will become a hurricane? If I'm not mistaken, Fay failed to become a hurricane, but has done enough damage as it is. I have a feeling Gustav will become a weak hurricane, but there's major certainty in that. What do you think?

As of now Gustav is only expected to be a tropical Storm by Saturday. The cloud pattern asscaited with Gustav is looking more raged especailly in the center and there is only a small area of strong winds to the southeast of the center. The strength of Gustav will greatly depend in it's interaction with land in Cuba. The GFS(a forecasting model) is not showing the intenification of Gustav.

Gustav went from a tropical wave to a tropical storm in less than 24 hours. So I think that it will likely become a hurricane.

The current GDFL Model has Gustav crossing Cuba and entering the Gulf of Mexico. If this track holds true (we'll see in about 7 days), then I think a Cat 4 or Cat 5 hurricane isn't out of the question, given the high water temps.
