  1. You have to forward your ports. I don't know how to do that with a modem, but I could tell you how to do it with a router. >_>

  2. You must own the full version or have a Battlenet account for online play.

  3. The issue is with port forwarding almost guaranteed. Some DSL modems have a firewall built in which is tricky considering that the ISP probably provided you with the equipment.

Go to your run command and type CMD and press enter. It should bring up your command prompt. Once there type ipconfig /all

This should spew some data. Write down the IPv4 (might simply be called IP address if you arent on Windows Vista) address of your computer. Now  you are looking for the one called "Default Gateway." Make note of this address and type it into your web browser.

This may bring up a menu that will allow you to configure your firewall and such. If it does you need to find the port forwarding option and forward the correct ports (Both UDP and TCP.) For Warcraft 3 and other Blizzard games the port number is 6112. Make sure it is forwarded by the IP address that you wrote down.

In the event that the default gateway does not bring up any sort of menu, it is probably best to contact your ISP as I won't be able to help you with that. They may have a server side firewall, and these are tricky to deal with.

Hope my options work, but if not good luck with your ISP. It sux not being able to get all that DoTa action. I know how you feel :)
