Tumbling on hard floor?

okay, so

im trying out for cheer pretty soon, and i know they have to be able to tumble on hardwood floor. i can tumble on the spring floor at my gym like handsprings and all, but when i try to tumble on cemente, i dont get enough bounce and its quite heavy. ive been practicing, and it hasnt gotten ANY better! also, it is kinda painful. but i can stand it. but still!!

HOW CAN I GET BETTER?!!

please help!!!!!

When tumbling on hard surfaces, you need to perfect your technique so that you don't make hard contact at any point.  Concentrate on rolling from the point of contact--don't crash into the floor and then roll.  When doing handstands or landing on feet, try to make it feel like you're touching the floor, not hitting the floor--you'll need to keep knees flexed (and maybe elbows, depending on your strength level).

    Look, pain is nature's way of telling you something's wrong.  If you feel pain--even a little-when tumbling on any floor, you need to iron up your technique so that you can avoid that hard contact.
