Hey, I need my round-off back handspring back tuck.

I have my round-off back handspring, and sometimes standing back tuck. Can you give me any tips for this tumbling? Also, what are some tips to overcome mental fears. Sometimes I get scared to throw my round-off back handspring and need someone to stand close to me. The problem is in try-outs I won't have that. Please respond.

  1. keep practicing on a tramp. maybe take some tumbling class for a few weeks until tryouts. just think that u r at nationals and if u make a mistake something bad will happen so u have to do it. use lots of power and practice doing a roundolf double handspring and then cchange it to a tuck! just ur mind to it. u will do great! hope i helped!(:

  2. when you do your round off back handspring, just dont think about it at all, just go for it, if you think about it youll end up psyching yourself out. When you go to do your roundoff back handspring tuck, make sure that you get alot of speed run as hard as you can, do your roundoff and when you get to you back handspring, push off your legs as hard as you can to get ready for your tuck, set big and pull your legs in. you should land it perfectly:)

  3. There are some drills and tutorials here that might help: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/tumbl...

For example to practice connecting a back tuck to a handspring, try doing a snap-down drill. Stack up some panel mats and do a handstand, then throw your feet to the floor and push off with your hands. When your feet land rebound _up_ and set for your tuck. If you don't want to connect the tuck at first, just do the jump up. But eventually you should add the tuck to the drill. Use a spotter until you are comfortable with that part of the drill.

The most important thing you can do is not think about what you are doing. Otherwise, you will just stand there and not go for it because you are too wrapped up in your head about what could go wrong. Get _mad_ at that skill. You have to be madder at it than you are scared of it. Just tell it that you own it and that it does not own you.

    Good luck!
