  1. Depends on the car.

Most cars that are new, you will lose your power steering, and you may also lock the steering wheel where it wont turn..

Please if your thinking of doing that to save gas please DON'T.

  2. Really nothing except that you would lose your power steering and you could cause an accident if other people were around....

Also you would need to put the transmission in neutral to restart the vehicle.

  3. your auto will probably backfire which could blow out your muffler/catalytic converter

  4. youd save on gas money

  5. If you have power steering, you would not be able to steer the car as mentioned previously, but you would also not have any brakes. I hope you aren't serious about doing this.

  6. You'd probably keep on rolling and won't be able to smart the car back up.

  7. Your steering would become very heavy as the power steering pump is driven by the engine.

You would still have brakes, but only the first time you braked as the brake servo uses vacuum pressure which is generated by the engine running.

Your steering would not lock unless you removed the key from the ignition.

You could restart the car by turning the ignition on and simply putting it into a high gear to bump start it. (provided it was a manual)

For an automatic it would need to be in neutral.

But don't do it as you would never be able to react in an emergency if the engine was off.

  8. ok, dont ever do this!... first the motor will die then the steering will jerk and lock up
