I just got a red eared slider turtle. Hes small and i got him about 10 tiny goldfish to eat. Can I keep the tiny goldfish in the same tank as the red eared slider turtle is in? There is a filter in the tank, and its good sized tank for the fish and the turtle, but will the turtle over eat? should i keep the fish seperate? thanks!

  1. the fish are fine kept in with the turtle.

the turtle will not overeat on the fish so don't worry about that. if hes not eating the fish, try some pellets to feed him too.

actuactlly, you should get some pellets even if he is eating the fish, a well rouned diet is good for them. after all they are omnivours.

    mine love strawberries

    stay away lettuce

  2. Hey! I have 6 red eared sliders that live in an outdoor pond. First I raised 2 of them in a tank like you described.

You can keep the goldfish in the same tank as the turtle, this is perfectly fine. The turtle will not over eat. They get plenty of energy from the light and food, and they wont hurt themselves by over eating.

My turtles have become too domestic to catch their food. We put feeder fish in the pond a few years ago and they havnt really eaten any. Now the fish are huge!

    Good Luck

  3. yes u can feed it in the turtle cage

  4. no ur turtle will be fine but if hes too small he wont eat them u might want to just get him some pellets

  5. Goldfish are too fatty to be good food for a turtle. Get baitfish as food for him.
