Tv help please?

on febuary 17 2009 what will happen to tvs do you have to have a hi def tv or digetal tv.i need one for my room and one of my parents says i need a high def tv.do?please give me alot of info!!!ppppppppppppppppllllllllleeeeeeee...

If you are using cable or satellite, you are OK on February 18.

If you use an antenna to receive TV, you can continue to use your old style analog TV if you connect it to an inexpensive converter box.  The US government is providing a maximum of two $40 coupons to help with the cost of the boxes.  You can apply for one at http://www.dtv2009.gov.

You could also just upgrade to a digital TV set, too.  That's a more expensive option, but it's just as valid.
